April Fool's Day

For April Fool's Day I didn't really have anything planned until my friend Sara made me feel like a bad Mom :) telling me all of the fun things that she had done with her kids. I had a Family Fun magazine that had some fun ideas in it so I decided to try them out. For Dinner I mad "fish sticks" out of waffer cookies with peanut butter smeared on them and then rolled them in corn flakes, the "peas" were rolled up little balls of Laffy Taffy and the "ketchup" was strawberry jam. For "dessert" we had meat loaf cupcakes with colored mashed potatoes on top. And to drink we had "juice" but it was really a cup of jello with a straw in it to make it look like a drink.

I had Keith take the kids on a little drive while I got everything on the table. When the kids came in they just kept looking at the food like they knew it looked a little wierd but couldn't quite figure out what was different about it. Sam said "Mom, what kind of frosting is that, it is really fluffy." We all sat down to eat and Sam ate a "pea" first. He started to spit it out but then realized that it was candy and decided to eat them all. The "fish sticks" weren't very tasty and I don't think that any of us actually got full but it was still a lot of fun!

  1. That's funny because now you, Britney, and Sara are making me feel like a bad mom. We had breakfast for dinner on April Fools but it wasn't too exciting since we do that on a weekly basis anyway. :)

  5. I can't believe you say I made you feel like a bad mom. You totally outdid me. I wasn't really ready for it this year, but I think Devyn will be expecting something every year now. SO now if I don't do something I will ruin her day. It's best not to even start. It's fun, I just need to think of some REALLY good ones! Hahahaha Devyn, watch out!

  6. By the way, your food looks awesome! I didn't go through that much work. Dan was out of town and I had a million things going on that day, soccer, Young Womens, realized I had a boy with the poops. Trying to be a good mom by playing jokes on the kids. And I put myself in tears by the end of the day. Ahhh, this trip was worse than his three weeks in China, glad he's home.

(Even if Dan was home, I don't know if I could have gone through all that work, you're awesome, what a fun mom, Candy for dinner! And some intersting cupcakes.

  7. Jamie, you are so cute! I can't imagine that you could ever think for even a second that you are a "bad mom." It seems like you guys are always doing fun things, and it's obvious that you put forth tons of time and effort to be the best mom ever.
