Check-up at PCMC

Trig had a check up appointment today at Primary's with Dr. Saarel. Before we saw Dr. Saarel, one of the PA's, Charles King, came in just to listen to Trig's heart and to get to know us a little better. Also with him was a student. They were both so cute with Trig. Trig of course brought out the charm and was so smiley and happy.. but he usually is. They just kept going on and on about how cute he is, they loved his dimples and his red hair. (In all actuality the Dr.'s at Primary's probably act this way with all babies) I just thought that it was so cute of them to be so goo-goo over him. I even heard them out in the hall saying what a cute baby he is. I would have to agree!!

Well, Trig's appointment went very well! Dr. Saarel said that his rhythm sounds normal. I was a little confused by the word normal because I listen to Trig's heart about every night after he is asleep and I can still hear either beats that are doubled up or beats that skip so I asked her if the rhythm is normal like mine is normal or if it is normal for Trig. She said that it is normal for Trig and that he still does have irregular rhythms but that they are not worried about them. I just love the Dr.'s at Primary's they are so caring and make me feel like any questions that I have are worth asking. Dr. Saarel sent Trig home with a holter monitor that he has to wear for 24 hours and then I will send it back. If everything is still looking good after they get the results of the holter back then we won't have to go back to Primary's for a YEAR!!! I can't believe it. It is a little scary for me to think that he won't be seen for that long because I still worry a lot about him. Dr. Saarel said that most of the TGA babies do very well and never have more problems. She said that there are some that have issues with the arteries becoming too narrow or becoming enlarged but for the most part things go very well. I just need to not worry! At his next appointment they will do an ECHO (ultrasound of the heart) to make sure that things are still looking the way they should.

I really wanted to get a picture of Trig with Dr. Saarel and I actually remembered my camera this time only to find out that when I turned it on it was out of batteries. Arrggh! I was very bugged. I guess I will probably have to wait a year to get one of them together...but I guess that is good news!

While I was a Primary's today I was able to meet a wonderful little "Heart Family"; Kyle, Alli, and their baby Grant. He is 13 days old. He has already had his first heart surgery and is scheduled for another surgery next week to repair some problems that he has with his intestines. They are so positive and upbeat. They are actually in the same room that Trig was in when he was discharged so I had a lot of emotions come over me when I walked into their room. I was gratful for the opportunity that I had to talk with them for a little while before I took Trig to his appointment.

  3. Jamie,

It was so great to talk to you the other day. Sorry if I talked too much :)!

I am glad all went well at Trig's appointment. I liked the normal for him comment about his rhythms.

Is it ok if I link to your site from Jacob's? Just let me know if you would prefer not to.

    Hugs & Prayers,
    Christina

  5. I am so glad that Trig's appointment went well. I am with you, the Dr.'s at PCMC are amazingly talented and loving people. They are a true blessing! Not to compare what your family has gone through with Trig to our simple little hospital stays with my son, I just wanted to tell you that I still worry everytime that Rowen gets a simple little cold. I sometimes wonder if I will ever stop worrying. I think it's part of being a mother. Once you have had a good scare you just can't help it. But then again, I joke (although it's true) that I come from a long line of worriers and it's in my genes. Again, I am so happy that Trig is doing so well.

  6. I too am so glad that Trig is doing great. I can't remember if it was 2 or 3 weeks ago but it was Sunday and I all my kids were talking about was how cute Trig was that day in primary. They said he was smiling and laughing.
